Admission of Children to Communion at All Saints’ Church Autumn 2022
The Church of England systems have changed to now allow children of any age to receive bread and wine at Communion before they are confirmed provided the child has been baptised & has received suitable preparation in church.
Confirmation then remains the further important occasion at an older age when young people make their adult declarations of faith see https://www.churchofengland.org/life-events/confirmation
Whether a child receives Communion is a personal decision for each family. Page 6 of the Admission Guidelines Booklet highlights that ‘Children should not be admitted on the basis of parental aspiration alone, but for children who are under the age of 7 years the parents’ wishes will be considered’.
If parents would like their child to receive Communion they need to:
- Return the Parental Consent Form to Rev’d Sue, Diane or Ian in person by 6th November 2022 or email it to firstname.lastname@example.org
- Ensure that their child attends at least 2 of the 4 preparation sessions at Church 4 Kids 10.30 am on Sunday: 18 Sept; 2nd Oc; 16th Oct and 20th Nov.
- Ensure that their child attends at least 1 of the Family Time preparation sessions at 9.00 am on 11th September and 9th October.
Our first All Age Communion service will be in All Saints’ Church Appley Bridge at 10.30am on Sunday 27th November 2022.
